Horticulture:
 
I. Introduction:

The Department of Horticulture is in existence at this college since the establishment of college. The prime functions of this department are under graduate and providing Horticultural extension to staff of development agencies, NGO officers and farmers of the region. Since the inception of this department has made significant contribution in development of mother tree block at College farm, tree plantation work in college primices & development of fruit and ornamental garden at college farm. During the year 2005-06 P.G programme has been started in this department with the intake capacity of 6 students per year.


Initially the focus of research was on standardization of package of practices for the horticultural crop grown in this area. Accordingly post graduate research programme is planned to study the effects of different organic manures on growth yield and quality of vegetable and flower crops. During this year experiment on use of growth regulators in vegetable and flower crop are initiated in order to meet the demand of farmers on these aspects. In future need based research programme will be undertaken.

II. Objectives:

The prime objective of this department is undergraduate, post graduate teaching, research and extension of improved technology of horticultural crop to the farmers of the region.

A) Academic staff:- This department has well experienced faculty member consulting of a professor, an Associate professor and four Assistant Professor
