Animal Husbandry and Dairy Science:
 
I. Introduction:

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Science is in existence at this college since 1987-1988. Initially its function was to educate under graduate students and extension activities. As M.Sc. (Agri) Post-Graduate programme in this department have been started from year 2005-06, the research activities through Post-Graduate students are going on in the field of Animal Breeding, Animal Management and preparation of value added dairy products.

II. Objectives:

The main objective of this department is to teach Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate students, research and Extension activities in Dairy Science and Animal Science field.


1. To develop a strong center for maintaining Indigenous Breeds of cattle, sheep, goat and poultry prominent in this area. The main purpose of maintaining these animals is to demonstrate and teach to the UG, Pg students of the department.
2. To give the training to the farmers regarding management and marketing of livestock.
3. To study traditional dairy products quality, shelf life and its marketing potential.
4. To study the response of cattle and poultry birds to various levels of non-conventional feed.
5. To produce sustainable livestock.
6. To study the economics of dairy farming.
